Artist Statement:
"As a photo realism artist working vibrant transparent layers into my art paintings , it can take over a hundred
hours to finish each piece of artwork. My passion is realism and I followed it
through the mediums of pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolor and oils. My methods and
techniques can be generalized into one word...'transparency'. I work with multiple layers
of paint, which requires patience between applications. I find this gives me incredible
depth and luminosity in my paintings. I am a true purist with my work-including, no use of
masking fluids or tapes in my watercolor pieces. "What is white is the paper..."
was an attraction I found through my use of charcoal and I have followed that passion
through to the other mediums. Reading the eyes of animals, for years, gave way to
telling stories of travels-through the portraiture of beautiful and historical places
visited. I hope my art is a reminder of your own story there, or, encourages you to go
make one"

| What is a Giclee? | The Giclee printers spray over 1 million droplets per second onto the selected substrate, which is higher than a traditional lithographic print and has a wider color gamut than serigraphy. There are no screens used with this method of reproduction hence, Giclee Prints render deep, saturated colors and have a beautiful painterly quality that retains minute detail, subtle tints and blends. The preciseness of the printing along with the depth of color range captures the subtleties and nuances of an original image be it watercolor, oil or acrylic. The inks used to create these prints usually boast an archival life of over 100 years! |
| Quality From a Perfectionist...Prices From The Artist! | As a perfectionist, Bj. takes control of her print production. We are currently investing in professional giclee printing equipment - however, whether the editions are done in-house, or out, she takes as long as necessary to get a perfect reproduction of the original. You are buying from the artist, herself - not, a representative. Consequently, the collector benefits, as these huge savings are passed on to them. Each new Giclee Print is perfected, proofed, signed and packaged by the artist, herself. |

You can frame these
yourself! It is not that difficult. Or, you can take them to a custom frame
shop, which will make sure that your investment is precisely measured and archival sealed
in the frame. All artwork should be hung out of direct sunlight. Prints on Canvas: All Giclee Prints on canvas come with a border to be either mounted on stretchers and framed. Or, mounted under a mat, glass and framed. Canvas prints are numbered (if applicable) on the image in the lower left or right hand corner. All canvas prints are sprayed with a UV protective coating and varnish. The very best way to ship canvas is rolled - print side out in a tube. Bj. prefers this method with the exception of pieces already stretched or Framed Art, which is shipped flat. Your local frame shop can stretch the canvas-or, you can do it yourself. Stretcher strips can be purchased at any art supply store. However, you can email Bj., if you would like her to stretch your canvas for you. Additional fees will apply. Most of Bj.'s canvas prints are sized to fit Standard (over-the-counter) frames, when mounted on stretcher bars. Please feel free to contact Bj. with any questions. Ask seller a question Prints on Paper: All Giclee Prints on paper come with a border to be mounted under mat, glass and framed. All paper prints should always be framed this way. Within that border-under the image, is the artist's signature and/or number and title of the piece in pencil. Prints on paper are not varnished. Most prints on paper are shipped flat. Larger prints shipped rolled in tube will flatten (usually on thier own) and should be removed from tube upon receipt. Most of Bj.'s paper prints are sized to fit Standard (over-the-counter) mat and frames. Be sure to take the print with you to the store to make your selection, so that you can match the mat opening size. You may, or may not choose to show the art markings in pencil underneath. If you are framing it yourself and you do want to show the art markings, it is easy to trim the bottom portion of the store-bought mat to accommodate. Size Example: 9"x12" image size on 11"x14" paper will generally frame out to a 16"x20" total size. |
| Postcards | Bj. de Castro's postcards are like purchasing a little desk-top piece of art! As she has chosen not to place any advertising text on the front of the image, which makes these cards completely 'frame-able' and wonderful framed gifts! With the exception of the 'Mixed Postcard Lot', you are receiving packets of the same image. No hand-writing on the back. Description of the artwork is in upper left hand corner on the back. Studio address is across lower bottom. Stamp marker and TO: lines vary. 4 1/8 x 5 1/2 inches. |
| Authenticity (COA) | All Original Art Paintings and Giclee Prints come with a Certificate of Authenticity signed and sealed by the artist. You will also receive information on the artist, the work, giclees, ordering info, a detailed invoice and a Free postcard. (Or other small gift.) |

| More Feedback & Reviews | "I have three pieces
of your artwork framed and hanging in the stairwell of our home. They beautifully
bring back memories of a European vacation we were able to enjoy earlier this year.
Your ability to capture the true feelings of an area is truly amazing. Thank
you again."...Bill "My browsing the web led me to your site. I love the way you take inspiration from the many beautiful places you've seen in your travels. Your paintings vividly capture the spirit of these places and make me yearn to once again meander through the cobblesone streets of Rome, or while away the hours in some French cafe! 'Memoir de Paris, France' and 'London Bridge, England' are particularly striking to me. Marvelous Creations. Glad I stopped in!" - Willow Johnson, Assistant Editor, "The Medium" Webzine. "Hi Bj. I received your print today. Next to my baby Boomer, I have never seen anything with red feathers that was so absolutely gorgeous. I truly am in awe of your ability to capture a memory so beautifully. This print will take an honored place in my home and be enjoyed each day. Thank you for sharing your talent with my family!" - Jo Ann Holmes |
