Bj. de Castro's, Statue of Liberty, New York

Awarded the Medal of Honor & Featured for 9/11 Tribute.

Bj.'s oil painting, Statue of Liberty, New York, is awarded the Medal of Honor & featured in tribute to the tragedy of Sept. 11th in New York and on the Twin Towers.  *On a personal note by the artist, "Of all the honors and awards that my art has garnered me, this is one that I hold with great personal pride.  My visit to New York was, actually, many years prior to the events on 9-11.  However, the initial compositional phase of this painting, started just before the awful tragedy.  My heart was so full of tears...I could not work on it.  It was set aside and not completed, until 2003.  Never in my work, has my passion morphed into something-so powerful, that I doubted my ability to finish the piece.  This piece started out as an expression of a special place that I had traveled to-and ended, as a representation of all that Lady Liberty stands for.  I am humbled to have met her."

 One More Day

The days have come and the nights are long

As a country, we have done right

and done so much wrong

Throughout it all, your memory is still clear

Oh how I wish you were here

We have troops fighting day and night

hoping that they can make this wrong turn right

They work in land far away

Just hoping to make it another day

There is no end to the daily thoughts of missing you

Only another day and another night to get through

You would have been proud of those left behind

For they too, have suffered from this crime

I know you would not want us to grieve

Even so the days go on and on and

the pain never leaves

What did happen I shall try to say

If only to convince myself...just one more day

The towers fell and we looked with

shock and dismay

The heroes worked for so many days

But you descended to a place above

And

we were left with a memory of your love

Kids drew pictures, and fireman searched

It was a labor filled with love, not work

People prayed to the one who holds their faith

As a nation,we held fast to be strong, come what may

There were ceremonies and tributes and still today

Each of us were so devastated by that day

We look at the flag a different way

And keep on doing what we can

to make it one more day

There were songs and poems and

graphics and articles abound

There were fundraisers,and parades and

tears in every town

But know that in this time of trial and genuine grief

Your memory has yet to begin to leave

For we became strong and once again

challenged those who lead

To give us an answer or help us regain peace

It has awakened America and opened our minds

And in them,it is there, the strength we will find

To remember why we cried and came together

from all walks of life

To conquer the ones who took your lives

So I ask that you look down upon us and

send us your strength

Help us and guide us to discover from within

How to make it through one more day

And

Bring everlasting peace in the end

This is written in tribute to the 32 friends

I lost and the half sister and cousin.

It is a tribute to those who daily strive to make our

world better, and not bitter.

I cannot say I understand it all

For as we know, it has divided us like a wall.

So my request is this....Vote...I do not care who you

Vote for nor what party you belong...Make it a choice

to have a say in what happens in our world today....and

remember to be kind to those who help us make it
