"The Spanish Steps-Rome, watercolor"
This painting is a memory of Rome, Italy. At the top of the stairs, between and behind the two buildings, is the hotel, in which, we stayed. The gentleman sitting on the fountain is my husband. I joke, "…with financial paper in hand, he is nervously looking over his shoulder for me, as I browse the expensive shops down the street to the right." If you look to the top-right, just below the palm tree, you will see where-probably, to this day, a sapphire earring lay hidden between Rome's cobblestones. We went down one night to a cart-vendor for some water; got caught in a wind/rain storm; my umbrella inverted; caught the earring, and sent it flying. The match was later made into a ring for my daughter, but since, the pair was the first birthday gift from my husband, I painted the story to keep forever.

Original watercolor on paper.
Studio work, 1995.
18"x24" - NFS, Collection the artist.
Signed and Dated.
Framed and matted.

"Vizcaya-Florida, watercolor"

The Miami residence of the late James Deering, of International Harvester Co., where he spent his winters, until his death in 1925. Now, it is a museum of European decorative arts. This is the yacht landing behind the villa with Biscayne Bay in the background. So beautiful, on 5-17-91, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh held a garden party there, and President Ronald Reagan and Pope John Paul II met there to address the world from the Mount, on 9-10-87.  It's a shame that binary doesn't do justice to the beautiful transparency of watercolors.  Florida has stunning blue waters, and in the 'real-thing', the twenty layers of wash  that I laid, truly depicts this tropical quality.

Original watercolor on paper.
Studio work, 1998.

Signed and Dated.
Framed and matted.

"Capriole-Vienna, watercolor"

A talented horsewoman from her own history, my mother shared stories of the famous Spanish Riding School in Vienna. As I found myself on 5-23-94 standing in the great hall with the Lipizzans below me, her dream shared was realized. The move in this painting is called the Capriole. A Capriole is a crowning achievement of the Haute Ecole, which few horses have the special strength and courage to achieve. The perfectly trained stallion leaps into the air and at the highest points, extends his hindlegs vigorously. This painting called upon my patience learned with charcoal...what is white is the paper.  There is no cover-up.  No room for error.  The challenge I adore.

Original watercolor on paper.
Studio work, 1995.
18"x24" - NFS, Collection the artist.
Signed and Dated.
Framed and matted
