How the recognition of a painting&#8230;garnered PR for the Morgan horse."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><big><\/big><big><em>I<\/em><\/big><small>finished <em>&#8216;Capriole, Vienna&#8217;<\/em>, original watercolor in 1995, however&#8230;it wouldn&#8217;t be until\u00c2\u00a0 June of 2003 that the Limited Edition print of &#8216;<em>Capriole<\/em>&#8216; would introduce me to Wendy LeGate and the Morgan Horse.\u00c2\u00a0 It was the birth of a different painting&#8230;one that would soon take on a life and destiny of it&#8217;s own&#8230;<\/small><\/p>\n<p><em><big><\/big><big>W<\/big><\/em><small>endy LeGate is owner of OGO, Old Growth Oak<br \/>\nMorgans, in San Jose, California, where she breeds the purest lines of the Morgan. \u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\nShe purchased many pieces from me, before she approached with the proposal of painting<br \/>\nsomething that she could use as a logo for her Morgan horse ranch.\u00c2\u00a0 I started to work<br \/>\nand put 80 hours talking, researching and studying photos, before paint ever touched the<br \/>\ncanvas.\u00c2\u00a0 We wanted to incorporate the magnificent oak trees that make up the<br \/>\n<!--more-->landscape and it was important to capture Wendy&#8217;s vision of her passion. \u00c2\u00a0 A passion<br \/>\nthat goes beyond admiration for a beautiful and magnificent animal.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s a passion<br \/>\nthat takes on a personal responsibility and dedication to the blood line legacy of the<br \/>\noriginal Justin Morgan and Jubilee King.<\/small><\/p>\n<p><big><em><big>T<\/big><\/em><\/big><small>his painting was a one year process-almost to date, from conception to completion<\/small>. D<small>uring<br \/>\nthe research phase of this piece, I learned about the Morgan horse, it&#8217;s history and it&#8217;s<br \/>\nlegacy.\u00c2\u00a0 During the painting process, I learned of its strength, beauty and<br \/>\nendurance.\u00c2\u00a0 Most enlightening to me, however, was the lesson I learned during the<br \/>\ncollaboration process with Wendy. \u00c2\u00a0 Perhaps-only in the art world, have I ever seen<br \/>\nsuch passion!\u00c2\u00a0 As an outsider to the Morgan horse life looking in, my very first and<br \/>\nsustained impression was that of loyalty, love and extreme passion for these magnificent<br \/>\nanimals.\u00c2\u00a0 <\/small><\/p>\n<p><big><\/big><big><em>W<\/em><\/big><small>hat neither one of us realized, was that this<br \/>\nart piece would take on all the traits that define the Morgan horse and call them it&#8217;s<br \/>\nown&#8230;then, return the honor with International recognition.\u00c2\u00a0 The history, legacy,<br \/>\nstrength, beauty and endurance of the Morgan was to be channeled through the passion of a<br \/>\npainting&#8230; to the admirers, art patrons, editors, writers, collectors, breeders,<br \/>\ngalleries, competition committees, book publishers and to the billions of Internet web<br \/>\nsurfers.<\/small><\/p>\n<p><big><\/big><big>I<\/big><small> have always told my children, <em>&#8220;There is an<br \/>\nartist behind everything you see.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 <\/em>This statement opened their eyes to the<br \/>\npossibilities and avenues for their own artistic endeavors-as Fine Art wasn&#8217;t their thing,<br \/>\nand helped them evaluate which industry would best fit them.\u00c2\u00a0 There is no industry<br \/>\nthat utilizes the visual impact of art more than in advertising and promotion.\u00c2\u00a0 Now,<br \/>\nwith the new world of the Internet and all it&#8217;s possibilities&#8230;key words are associated<br \/>\nwith all graphics and art.\u00c2\u00a0 Therefore, any web surfer can type in a topic of interest<br \/>\nto them and not only find text pages, but also, images related to that topic.\u00c2\u00a0 As a<br \/>\ncomputer geek and webmaster myself, I realized I had found a way to reverse the<br \/>\nindustries&#8217; process to work to my advantage.\u00c2\u00a0 Instead of using art to grab the<br \/>\nviewer&#8217;s attention to text, I used text to navigate the surfer to my art. \u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\nThrough this endeavor, anyone with an interest in the topic of an art piece is directed to<br \/>\nmy website and my work.\u00c2\u00a0 However, no piece has garnered more attention than <em>Oak<br \/>\n&#038; Morgan Stance.<\/em><\/small><\/p>\n<p><em><big><\/big><big>I<\/big><\/em><small>f you do a search for &#8216;bjdecastro&#8217; on the top 17 search engine companies-Google, Lycos, Dogpile,<br \/>\nAltavista, Yahoo, Excite, Metacrawler, webcrawler, Momma, Netscape, Alltheweb, Go.com,<br \/>\nLooksmart, MSN, Teoma, Redzip and Askjeeves, you will find a total of over 2,290<br \/>\nlistings.\u00c2\u00a0 Keep in mind, there are many other indexes on the web-over 10,000! \u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\nEach pulling text and links with any reference to the surfer&#8217;s request to display as<br \/>\nresults.\u00c2\u00a0 <em>Oak &#038; Morgan Stance<\/em> has not only harvested publicity for<br \/>\nitself through this process&#8230;but for that of the Morgan horse community, as well. \u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\nArt patrons purchase the prints from the site, my online gallery reps. or eBay and<br \/>\npromote; galleries promote through display of\u00c2\u00a0 the piece, competition committees select<br \/>\nthe work and promote through the contest; a book publisher found the work and now it is<br \/>\ngoing to print an art coffee-table book; postcard sales are a huge market for me and the<br \/>\nMorgan horse is being sent out around the world; editors have found the piece in their<br \/>\nInternet and eBay searches, which garnered more articles on the Morgan-but the painting<br \/>\ncontinues to give back&#8230;<\/small><\/p>\n<p><em><big><\/big><big>D<\/big><\/em><small>oing a search on Google for Laura Behning, editor and writer for the Morgan horse, you will find the<br \/>\narticle she wrote for Oak &#038; Morgan Stance at the 4th or 5th position.\u00c2\u00a0 Wendy<br \/>\nLeGate, Morgan horse breeder, will display through the piece at positions 1, 3 and 4.<br \/>\n\u00c2\u00a0 Old Growth Oak Morgans brings the art work up at number 1 and Morgan horse art is<br \/>\nat 2.\u00c2\u00a0 What does this all mean?\u00c2\u00a0 The more references to the topic on the<br \/>\nInternet through a website, brings that site up in the rankings.\u00c2\u00a0 The net evaluators<br \/>\nsay the average surfer doesn&#8217;t go past the fourth page, so consequently, webmasters strive<br \/>\nto be listed on the first one.\u00c2\u00a0 If you think of a funnel upside down, then the<br \/>\ndirection in which the surfers travel through these sites are what makes the search<br \/>\nengines smile.\u00c2\u00a0 *The smaller end being the search engine.\u00c2\u00a0 So, with the Oak<br \/>\n&#038; Morgan Stance being an image and much easily incorporated into thousands of<br \/>\nwebsites, you can see how it has garnered an enormous amount of traffic for the Morgan<br \/>\ncause.\u00c2\u00a0 The visitor admires the painting, then reads the article by Laura Behning,<br \/>\nthen visits the site of Wendy LeGate, then follows the links to other sites-such as the<br \/>\nMorgan Horse Association with all it&#8217;s links to other Morgan community sites.\u00c2\u00a0 Even<br \/>\nif the viewer sees the piece in a gallery and goes to their computer to do a search on<br \/>\nit&#8230;the result is the same.<\/small><\/p>\n<p><small>Oak &#038; Morgan Stance has only just begun to garner publicity and recognition for<br \/>\nthe Morgan horse, but has already established it&#8217;s association with pride and success.<br \/>\n\u00c2\u00a0 It was selected by a Jury Committee for the 2004 International Art Contest. \u00c2\u00a0<br \/>\nIt has topped studio sales on eBay and throughout the world eBay sites via prints and<br \/>\npostcards.\u00c2\u00a0 It grabbed the attention of a book publishing company to immortalize<br \/>\nitself and the Morgan in their next art coffee-table book of Modern Day Master Artists.<br \/>\n\u00c2\u00a0 The piece was featured in the Art Fix magazine and an article was written by Laura<br \/>\nBehning about the piece for the Morgan horse community.\u00c2\u00a0 There are over forty online<br \/>\ngalleries featuring and exhibiting the painting, with everyone of them containing the<br \/>\nfunnel of links back to the Morgan sites.<\/small><\/p>\n<p><small>Besides any further publicity<br \/>\nthe painting garners, <em>Oak &#038; Morgan Stance<\/em> will continue to spread all over<br \/>\nthe world from Canada to Australia in the form of prints and postcards in effort to honor<br \/>\nthe homes with the history, legacy, strength, beauty and endurance of the Morgan horse.<\/small><\/p>\n<p><small>\u00c2\u00a0<\/small><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA\">Bj. de Castro, one of the pioneering artists on the Internet, has many art-related affiliations, a membership of the former National Association of Fine Artists and is<br \/>\nlisted in the International Art Market Directory of Artprice in Paris, in the 58th edition<br \/>\nof Who&#8217;s Who in America and the 22nd edition of Who&#8217;s Who in the World.\u00c2\u00a0 Her<br \/>\npaintings are in private and corporate collections throughout the World, exhibited<br \/>\nInternationally, and published in a book of Modern Day Masters.\u00c2\u00a0 This award winning<br \/>\nCalifornia artist is based in Simi Valley, and represented by many galleries.
